“I never said anything wrong all I needed at Manchester City was more playing time” – Julian Alvarez responds to Pep Guardiola’s latest comments on his Manchester City future

Pep Guardiola made some new words at a recent press conference, and Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez replied. The player’s future is still unclear.

The head coach at Etihad Stadium was asked about Alvarez’s first words about his future with Manchester City. There is rising doubt that he will stay with Sky Blues for the upcoming season, as Atletico Madrid’s desire grows.

The 24-year-old said that he knew how many top-level minutes he played for the club last season, but he felt like he should have played in some of the more important games and that it was disappointing that his coach had left him out after all the goals he scored.

Alvarez went on to say that he will think about his club future after the Olympics are over in Paris this summer. Pep Guardiola replied during his own Monday night press conference, “I know he wants to play in big times, but so do the other players.”

“18 or 19 of our guys want to play in the big games.” I read that he needs to think about it, so I guess he should do that and then let us know what he wants to do.

To talk to TV Publica after Argentina’s 0–2 win over Ukraine at the Olympics on Tuesday afternoon, Julian Alvarez was asked if he had heard Pep Guardiola’s latest answer to what he said about his future at Manchester City.

“Yes, I did hear what Pep Guardiola said.” Avarez said, “I don’t have much to say.” “I said nothing bad.” I’ve always said that I’m very happy and at ease at Manchester City.

He went on, “It was just a look back at last season and a guess at what might happen next.” That was all.

This is what I meant when I said I would think about it, as I do every year and as we always do. That’s it.

At this point, it’s not clear if Atletico Madrid will make their interest in the former River Plate forward stronger. Manchester City is looking for an initial transfer fee of around €70 million, with an additional €20 million in add-ons.

Officials from City could make things even more difficult in talks with Atletico Madrid by asking that any deal include “friendly terms” like a “buy-back” or “sell-on” percentage, as has happened with other Etihad deals.

If Manchester City and the team from Madrid can come to an agreement, the Premier League winners will probably look for a candidate for Julian Alvarez in the transfer market.
