‘It is not the only club’ – Liverpool boss Arne Slot calls out three Premier League rivals’ spending in response to Erling Haaland’s new ten-year contract

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has weighed in on the massive spending spree in the Premier League, specifically referencing Manchester City’s recent ten-year contract extension with Erling Haaland. The deal is reportedly worth £500,000 per week.

Slot acknowledged that Manchester City is not the only club with deep pockets, pointing out that Chelsea and Manchester United have also spent enormous amounts of money. Since 2016, Chelsea has spent £2.04 billion, while Manchester City and Manchester United have each spent around £1.5 billion.

In contrast, Liverpool’s spending has been relatively modest, with £940 million spent since 2016. Despite this disparity, Slot expressed confidence in his team’s ability to compete with the big spenders.

Slot emphasized that the Premier League’s intense competition and high stakes are what make it so appealing. He acknowledged that Liverpool may not always be the biggest spenders, but the team is happy with its current roster and is focused on competing with the best.
