Antoine Semenyo has broken his silence on his move to Chelsea

Despite mounting pressure on manager Enzo Maresca and the club’s leadership, Chelsea plans to avoid hasty purchases during the January transfer window.
Following their massive £266.5 million spending spree last summer that brought in numerous players like Joao Pedro, Estevao, Jorrel Hato, and Jamie Gittens, the club is determined not to make impulsive decisions this winter.
While Chelsea had shown interest in Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, who carries a £65 million price tag, they’ve withdrawn from pursuing him. He now appears headed to Manchester City instead. This interest does indicate that club officials Behdad Eghbali and others at Stamford Bridge are seeking offensive reinforcements, though not necessarily during this transfer window.
The January period is anticipated to see more players leaving than arriving at Chelsea. According to SunSport, Maresca himself may be among those departing. Potential exits include Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, and Tyrique George, while young forward Shim Mheuka could be sent out on loan, as SunSport reported earlier today.
Chelsea’s initial interest in Semenyo—who contributed to both of Bournemouth’s goals in Tuesday’s match against Maresca’s squad—reveals what the club is looking for in potential targets.
Semenyo’s main appeal would have been his demonstrated ability to find the net consistently in Premier League competition. While players like Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho show promise, neither has displayed reliable goal-scoring consistency in the league. Geovany Quenda’s scheduled arrival from Sporting next summer might address this issue long-term, though he too lacks Premier League experience.
