BREAKING NEWS: Live from Stamford bridge, Paul Scholes has heaped praise on Chelsea star and claimed that the Chelsea man was the best midfielder on the pitch during their 1-1 draw against Manchester United. He said, “If it were my time, he’s the one Chelsea player I’d have loved to share the pitch with. When he’s in form, he elevates any team, bringing out their absolute best. Against United, he was hands down the standout player in that entire Chelsea squad

Paul Scholes recently praised Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, calling him the standout player in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on November 3. In an appearance on Premier League Productions, Scholes commended Caicedo’s performance and noted he would have enjoyed playing alongside a player with such abilities. He said, “Moises Caicedo is the type of player you want to play with, you need that type of player. He was probably the best out of the four [midfielders on the pitch].”

The game saw Bruno Fernandes score a penalty in the 70th minute, giving United the lead. However, Caicedo responded just four minutes later with an impressive volley from the edge of the box, seizing a loose ball following a cleared corner.

In addition to his praise for Caicedo, Scholes expressed disappointment with Marcus Rashford for missing a significant scoring opportunity. Rashford received a well-timed pass from Fernandes late in the first half but hit the crossbar instead of scoring. Scholes suggested Rashford might have been aiming for style over substance, saying, “I expect him to do better. I think he is trying to make the goal look better by going high into the roof of the net. It is quite a simple side-foot volley from seven yards. All he has to do is keep it down.”

Scholes also highlighted Manchester United’s wider issue with goal-scoring, urging new manager Ruben Amorim to address it. United has scored just nine goals in their first ten Premier League games, ranking near the bottom for goal production. Scholes emphasized this as a crucial concern, explaining, “It is something the new manager has to address. They have had chances this season. It has to get better. The lack of goals is a problem. We have one centre forward who we are not quite sure about. He [Hojlund] is a young lad but can get 20, 25 goals? He looks more like a 10 to 15 man. Zirkzee who they brought in for over £30million hasn’t got up and running yet. Where are the rest of the goals coming from? Marcus had that year where he scored 30. Garnacho again looks like he’s more capable of 10 to 15 instead of 20 to 25. So the biggest job he [Amorim] has is to find 70-80 goals to elevate them to where they should be.”

Currently, Manchester United is in 13th place in the league standings, while Chelsea’s draw lifted them to fourth. Scholes’ comments underscore both the positive aspects and challenges facing United, with their goal-scoring difficulties needing urgent attention if they aim to improve their ranking.
