Bring Him Back: After his success in the Champions League, Chelsea fans want Ian Maatsen to come back.

Because Ian Maatsen did so well for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Chelsea fans have asked the club’s leaders not to sell him.

In Dortmund’s 4–2 win over Atletico Madrid in the second leg, Maatsen got his first Champions League goal. The win sent Dortmund to the semi-finals.

Reports in Germany say that the left back joined Dortmund on loan in January and will stay with the German club until the end of the season. The Bundesliga team wants to make the loan deal permanent, though.

Based on his great play on loan at Burnley in 2022–23, Maatsen was looking to make it into Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea first team this season.

The Dutch player, who is 22 years old, helped Vincent Kompany’s team win the Championship and was named to the second-tier Team of the Season.

They even turned down a £31.5 million offer from Burnley to buy Maatsen, but Chelsea wanted to sell him in the summer.

Barcelona, a big team in La Liga, was interested in him because he didn’t get much playing time at Stamford Bridge. It was thought that Chelsea would be willing to sell him in January.

In the end, he went on loan to German team Dortmund for six months, and after his great game against Atletico, Chelsea fans want him to stay.

He also said, “Chelsea are going to sell Ian Maatsen to Borussia Dortmund for £35 million when we need a guy like him like crazy.”

That game we can’t get into has reached the semifinals, and Maatsen is in it as a starting LB. “Talent talks all the time.”

The Chelsea didn’t give Ian Maatsen a chance this season, but now he’s getting goals in the CL quarterfinals, as @ConnCFC wrote. Good luck to him, you’re a good player.
