Chelsea Manager Mouricio Pochettino has been sacked this evening by Chelsea Board after loosing 5-0 to Arsenal

Chelsea’s 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal has drawn criticism from manager Mauricio Pochettino, who claims his team “did not compete” with the Gunners.

Tuesday night at the Emirates, it only took four minutes for the north Londoners to grab the lead, thanks to a near-post goal from Leandro Trossard.

Arsenal enjoyed the better opportunities, however they had to wait until the second half to extend their advantage, while Chelsea had sporadic breakaway threats.

Soon after the break, Mikel Arteta’s team took command with to goals from Ben White and Kai Havertz, who both scored braces to lead their team to a resounding win.

As a consequence, Arsenal now leads the Premier League by three points, while Chelsea is still in ninth position. Pochettino was not pleased with his team’s performance in the second half, especially given their careless start.

“Well, I believe we began the game not so well, we surrendered the goal and then it was tough for us to recover for this goal,” Pochettino said when asked what went wrong against Arsenal on TNT Sports.

After ten or fifteen minutes, I believe the squad began to compete. We discussed at halftime that we couldn’t approach the game and begin the [second] half in the same manner that we began the first.
