The club’s board has reportedly given Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino a “ultimatum” on his future as the Blues’ manager.

After the Argentine’s first season in charge, the west Londoners want to evaluate Pochettino’s performance at the end of the season.

This season, Chelsea has mainly suffered, especially in the Premier League, although some commentators have backed Pochettino and placed the responsibility on the club’s owners.

This season, Pochettino led Chelsea to the Carabao Cup final. Despite losing to Manchester City in the semi-finals, Chelsea almost lost out on the FA Cup final.

Recent reports said Chelsea had a “strong candidate” in mind to succeed Pochettino, but the former Tottenham manager could be able to hang onto his position given his current record.

In their previous three Premier League home games, Chelsea has scored 13 goals and not given up a goal.

They destroyed Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge, then triumphed 5-0 against West Ham and 2-0 over rival Tottenham.

Chelsea is now sitting in seventh place in the top division, two points fewer behind Newcastle United in sixth place and four points behind Tottenham in fifth.

According to reports, the Chelsea board has now chosen to provide Pochettino a “ultimatum,” guaranteeing him a job if the Blues qualify for the Europa League.

Unless Manchester United finishes seventh or lower and defeats Manchester City in the FA Cup final, Chelsea should be able to secure their place in the tournament for the next season by finishing in sixth place.

If Chelsea finishes sixth and United finishes seventh or below in addition to winning the FA Cup, Chelsea would only be eligible to play in the Europa Conference League.

If Chelsea does decide to fire Pochettino, they have a lot of choices in mind, and a lot of names have previously been connected to the position.

Jose Mourinho is now the favorite, according to Sky Bet, ahead of Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton and Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon.
