confirmed by Fabrizio Romano Barcelona Star confirm’s he is leaving club at the end of the season to join shocking European Giants
Vitor Roque arrived from Athletico Paranaense during the winter transfer window, but his adjustment to Barcelona has been gradual and he hasn’t had much playing time.
Roque has had trouble establishing an impression in La Liga, even though he has only made two starts against Celta Vigo and Cadiz and hasn’t played much off the bench under head coach Xavi Hernandez.
Not one of Barcelona’s important games has seen Roque play under Xavi’s direction.
He did not play in the Champions League matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli, nor in El Clasico.
Neither the Spanish Super Cup nor the Copa del Rey match against Athletic Club included him in the starting lineup.
Given that Xavi has decided to stay on as head coach for the next campaign, Marca sources indicate that Roque’s future at Barcelona is unclear.
Nevertheless, conflicting reports from Sport suggest that Roque is happy where he is in Catalonia and is not interested in going on loan in the summer. He understands that he’s had more time to get used to the club and Spanish football since joining Barcelona in January.
Barcelona has great expectations for Roque despite his difficult start and sees him as an important long-term member of their team.
Although Roque’s first year at the team hasn’t been easy, Barcelona thinks that the next campaign will provide him a chance to show off his skills and leave a lasting impression.
