Fabrizio Romano Exposed why Chelsea’s Vini Jr. deal is closer than ever against all of their Premier League competitors
Chelsea has developed a reputation for investing heavily in emerging talent since Todd Boehly took over.
Notable examples include Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, each costing upwards of £100 million in back-to-back transfer windows.
Now, the Blues have a fresh opportunity to make another major splash, having targeted a Real Madrid player who will soon have just one year remaining on his contract.
Vinicius Jr made headlines after being substituted during the weekend’s El Clásico against Barcelona, visibly frustrated as he left the field before having a tense confrontation with Madrid’s manager Xabi Alonso.
Chelsea is reportedly monitoring the player’s circumstances at Real Madrid closely, with emerging reports suggesting discontent with life in Spain’s capital city.
Should these reports prove accurate, Enzo Maresca’s side stands ready to make their move for the Brazilian forward, potentially offering him an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu when the summer transfer window opens.
Chelsea monitoring Vinicius Jr situation
The Chelsea Chronicle reports that Vinicius has received an ultimatum: sign a new contract or face being sold during the summer.
Transfer specialist Graeme Bailey commented, “Remember, Vini Jr’s unhappiness isn’t something new. His contract expires in 18 months, and Real Madrid has made it clear that without a new agreement by next summer, they’ll sell him.
“Only a select few clubs could afford him. He’s reportedly not interested in Saudi Arabia. In England, that leaves Chelsea, City and Liverpool as options.
“While these aren’t typically the deals Chelsea pursues these days, I don’t believe Todd Boehly would dismiss the chance to sign a marquee, generational talent like him. Consider the commercial value Vini Jr would bring.
“By next summer, with just a year remaining, we’re not discussing a £200 million price tag. I wouldn’t completely discount Chelsea from contention. Though I expect he’ll ultimately renew, he’s evidently dissatisfied.
“Keep Vini Jr on your radar. Chelsea has previously expressed interest in him, and he remains on their watchlist.”
Should the Brazilian decide to depart Real Madrid, Chelsea ought to pursue every available avenue to secure his signature for Stamford Bridge.
