When Man City was ahead 1-0, referee Anthony Taylor made a very strange call by not giving Chelsea a penalty for Mateo Kovacic’s clear handball.
Premier League Match Centre officially explained it, and the reason is silly. The Match Center said that VAR “confirmed the referee’s call of no penalty, deeming the ball came from close range.”
It should not matter how close they are, though, because Kovacic’s hand was in an unnatural position during this incident. That means the referees cheated Chelsea on the first day of the match.
