FIFA has just announced VERY SAD NEWS for the Officials and Referees of the match between Manchester United vs Brighton and this have cost them thier Job after not awarding a clear goal calling it Offside
The second goal Manchester United scored against Brighton was called back because the player was clearly offside.
When Alejandro Garnacho got to the back post to tap in Bruno Fernandes’ cross in the 70th minute, United thought they were ahead 2-1.
The Argentinian scored the goal and went over to celebrate with his teammates. He came off the bench for the second time in a week.
That being said, the ball did hit another replacement, Joshua Zirkzee. The question now is whether the Dutchman touched it before it went over the line.
Video views in slow motion showed that Zirkzee’s knee was not even close to crossing the line.
The situation got even worse because he was just ahead of Garnacho when he shot, so VAR had to call him offside and not allow the goal.
The video is below.
“Zirkzee’s goal was given on-field,” the Premier League said on their Match Center Twitter account to explain the decision.
“The video assistant referee (VAR) looked at the play to see if Zirkzee was offside and said to take away the goal. “The referee started the game over with a free kick from Brighton.”
Erik ten Hag’s team fell behind in the first half when Danny Welbeck scored his 100th goal, and he used to play for Manchester United.
Amad Diallo then tied the game for United. It was his first start in the Premier League this season.
But it was too late for Ten Hag and United. A Brighton cross found Joao Pedro open in the penalty area, and he headed the ball past Andre Onana and into the bottom left corner.
