Former Manchester United defender who left the club this summer has been forced to retire after a horror injury

A story says that Raphael Varane, a defender who used to play for Manchester United, is in real danger of having his two-year deal with Como canceled just one month into it.
A lot of stars, including Varane, left Manchester United as free agents on June 30. Antony Martial and Brandon Williams both left the team, and Omari Forson also left after turning down a new contract offer from the club.
Varane was not too interested in a rumored move to Saudi Arabia. The French experienced player would have rather stayed in Europe, so he signed with Serie A team Como.
This summer, Como started a big hiring drive after making it back to Serie A for the first time in 21 years. Their manager is the legendary Spanish player Cesc Fabregas.
Along with Varane, the Italian team also brought in Pepe Reina, Sergi Roberto, Alberto Moreno, and Andrea Belotti, all of whom are well-known older players.
They also brought in some up-and-coming stars, like Maximo Perrone from Manchester City and Nico Paz from Real Madrid.
Varane, on the other hand, got hurt on his start in the Coppa Italia first round loss to Sampdoria, so the move to left field has not worked out for him yet.
A lot of different news outlets are saying different things about Varane’s injury. Some say it is in his knee, while others say it is in his hip.
Any way you look at it, Varane is not playing, and the latest news from Italy says his time at Como might be over.
That is because Varane was not picked for Como’s 25-man Serie A team, which was set after the transfer deadline on Friday night.
Como think about ending Varane’s deal
According to Sport Mediaset, Raphael Varane was not on the list of 25 players that Como gave to Lega Serie A for the 2024–25 season.
The experienced French back, who used to play for Real Madrid and Manchester United, joined on free in the summer but got hurt before the season started.
“Varane got hurt on his Coppa Italia start against Sampdoria, and now Como is also thinking about ending his deal.”
Varane would not be able to join Como’s Serie A team until after the January transfer window closed.
Instead of waiting six months, Como may be thinking about whether to let the 31-year-old go after only five weeks of his two-year deal.
Varane was looking forward to the “super exciting” Como move.
Man Utd’s official club reporters had already talked to Varane about the Como move.
It was a big draw for the defender to play for Fabregas, who was often an opponent of his when they were both at Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Varane also said that the project at Como was “super exciting,” but it looks like things have gone wrong now.
Varane said, “At first, I was interested in learning more about the project. Then I knew right away that it was something special,” two days after he officially moved to Como in late July. “Not like any other deal I would seen, so I wanted to learn more.”
“The project became more interesting as I learned more about it. It changed my mind about what I wanted to do.” The job quickly rose to the top of the list, and we were able to close the deal.
“I am glad.” It is really fun and there are lots of things to do. I have played at the highest level for a long time, and now I get to share what I know with a club and help it grow so it can possibly hit the top.
“This time I am not going up against Cesc. I am meeting him again.” I really like how he plays football and how much he loves it.
“It was very easy for us to understand each other when we talked, so I hope things will go well.” I am coming with a lot of humility to help the team and the club grow, no matter what.
