On October, Alejandro Garnacho had not been on the Manchester United bench since Wembley. He was there that day. He will not be there next week when they play Fulham.

Harry Amass seemed as likely to start for United as anyone else, even though he was only 17 and had never played before. He had to sit in the stands instead because he was the only traveling outfield player who was not picked for the game. Amass was able to warm up with the replacements on the list so that he could get the most out of his second game at the national stadium.

That did not make any sense at all. There was not a single player on the United bench, and five have already been hurt. Pellistri was loaned to Granada in January and was not needed there anymore. He did not show up at Carrington until Monday and was given a seat as a replacement.

It was not until the very end that Pellistri came on as a replacement. He played right back. The fish that was out of the water tried to find Bernardo’s leveller.
