In order to make their first signing, Manchester United has reached an agreement with a world-class talent about personal terms
Erik ten Hag and Man United need the 2024–25 season to be a turning point in their history more than any other.
The Red Devils shocked everyone by winning the FA Cup, but they did very poorly in the previous season.
They were out of Europe because they gave up the most goals ever by an English team in the group rounds of the Champions League. At the end of the season, they had the worst record in the history of the Premier League, with a goal difference of -1.
Manchester United and de Ligt come to a deal.
Even though most people thought Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his board would leave, the win over Man City in the cup final may have saved Ten Hag from certain death.
While the board may have been hedging their bets by extending Ten Hag’s deal, which would have paid the Dutchman, it does give the team some security at a crucial time.
The Manchester Evening News says that it has also helped United reach a personal deal with Matthijs de Ligt, who was one of their top summer transfer targets.
Ten Hag made de Ligt captain of Ajax when he was only 19 years old. It wouldn’t be a surprise if de Ligt soon took over as leader of the team at Old Trafford from Bruno Fernandes.
Now that United and Bayern Munich have agreed on a price for the move, De Ligt will definitely be wearing the jersey of his new team soon and will likely be one of their first-choice center backs for the next season.
