“It didn’t seem to me Mateo Kovačić second goal was a fluke and a lucky goal he can’t score such again- Enzo Maresca insists Manchester City second goal was a fluke

After leaving Raheem Sterling out of the important game against Manchester City, Enzo Maresca had a harsh reaction.

Sunday afternoon is the first game of Chelsea’s Premier League season. They will host winners Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca left Sterling out of the team, which made the former City striker put out a statement asking for more information about his future.

Now, the new manager of Chelsea has said what he thinks about dropping Sterling, and he has not held back.

Maresca told Sky Sports, “It is just a technical choice. I have nothing else to say.”

Sometimes players do not like the choices managers make, but that is their job.

Sterling was not on Chelsea’s team, which came as a surprise since he scored in both of their Premier League games last season.

The 29-year-old played in all six of Chelsea’s pre-season games, and Maresca called him a “important player” before the 2024–25 season.

Not long after the team sheets for the game against Manchester City were released, Sterling’s management team released a message that was published in the Daily Mail.

It said, “Raheem Sterling has a deal with Chelsea Football Club that lasts for three years.” Having gone back to England two weeks early to do individual training, he has had a good pre-season under the new coach, with whom he has become friendly.
