Manchester United incoming manager Ruben Amorim broke down in tears after Trio player who was supposed to be the main man against PAOK in the Europa league today has been injured in training this morning
The Europa League encounter between Manchester United and PAOK at Old Trafford on Thursday night does not seem to have Harry Amass, Jack Fletcher, or Ethan Wheatley on the team’s roster.
After missing Wednesday morning’s open training session at Carrington, United has now declared that the three will be included in their UEFA Youth League roster for tonight’s game against FK Zalgiris.
United’s Under-19 squad will play the Lithuanian team in the second leg of their UEFA Youth League second round encounter this evening at Leigh Sports Village. Last month, United won the first leg 5-2.
United announced the addition of Amass and Wheatley to their roster before to tonight’s game. Amass and Wheatley were both benched in United’s most recent Europa League game against Fenerbahce.
Amass, Wheatley, and Fletcher have all been replacements for United in the last three games. Jayce Fitzgerald was one of the substitutes in the most recent games against Chelsea and Leicester City.
However, the 25-man United team that rehearsed in front of the media on Wednesday at Carrington only included two young players: Daniel Armer and Jack Kingdon. Wheatley, Fletcher, and Amass do not seem to be joining the battle against PAOK.
Amass, who has not yet made an appearance for United in the first squad, may start tonight for the Under-19s at left-back. Wheatley has joined an already-existing squad of attackers that also includes Victor Musa, Bendito Mantato, and Gabriele Biancheri.
United’s young squad may make their European debut tonight with summer addition Sekou Kone, the club has also said. He made his debut for the team’s Under-21 squad last weekend, entering as a substitute during their 5-2 defeat to Sunderland in the second half.
Another new recruit, Chido Obi-Martin, will not play in tonight’s UEFA Youth League game.
