Premier League News

Manchester United Manager Erig Ten Hag has been sacked this afternoon and his replacement has been named.

Following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal from Old Trafford, Manchester United is searching for a new manager.

After the Reds placed eighth in the Premier League, the United manager appeared to be leaving the team in the summer. But a victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final guaranteed Ten Hag a respite and Europa League football.

Ten Hag’s tenure at the club appeared to be coming to an end after the Reds suffered crushing losses to Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, despite vocal support from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Dan Ashworth, and Omar Berrada. After the weekend’s tie with West Ham United, he departs with United in 14th place in the standings, having only won three of nine games.

Finding a successor will now be Ineos’s responsibility. As Ten Hag’s assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy will serve as temporary head coach until a suitable replacement is find.

Ratcliffe’s first concern will be the expense of finding Ten Hag a permanent successor. After years of excessive spending, United is still trying to balance the books, therefore they are not in a position to invest a significant amount of money on a new manager.
