Manchester City Star Kevin De Bruyne is set to join Chelsea next season on a free transfer, how did the manage to land this deal

Kevin De Bruyne’s illustrious career has undoubtedly made Chelsea regret their decision to let him go in 2014. Despite his brief stint with the Blues, during which he made only nine appearances in the 2012-2013 season, De Bruyne has evolved into one of Manchester City’s most revered and decorated players.

Following a successful loan spell at Werder Bremen, where he notched up an impressive tally of 20 goals and assists in 36 matches, De Bruyne joined Wolfsburg in 2014 for a fee of £18 million. His tenure at the German club was marked by significant success, including victories in the German Cup and Super Cup, as well as being crowned the 2015 Bundesliga Player of the Year.

De Bruyne’s subsequent move to Manchester City in 2015, which came with a hefty price tag of £54.5 million, has been an unmitigated success. He has amassed an impressive collection of trophies, including six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy.

Former Chelsea player Ashley Cole believes that De Bruyne’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities make him an attractive prospect for the Blues. According to Cole, even if De Bruyne’s propensity for injuries necessitates careful management, his expertise and winning mentality could still be a valuable asset to Chelsea’s squad, potentially even if he only plays 30 games per season.

With an impressive record of 106 goals and 176 assists in 414 appearances, De Bruyne’s credentials as a world-class player are undeniable. Cole’s suggestion that Chelsea could benefit from his services is certainly intriguing, and it’s hard to dispute the potential value he could bring to the team.
