Premier League have just announced the shocking VAR Error By referees of Manchester United vs Bournemouth- PGMOL under scrutiny over surprising VAR mistake made by The Referee during the Man United vs Bournemouth match after not awarding Bournemouth a late penalty
Manchester United and Bournemouth tied 2-2 at the Vitality Stadium thanks to a controversial penalty kick by Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes’ shot from 12 yards out won United a point. When they played the Cherries in the Premier League, they had a chance to move up in the ranks and pass Newcastle United. However, they missed the chance completely and ended the day in seventh place, 10 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
In the 16th minute, Dominic Solanke was the first player to score for the Cherries. He beat Willy Kambwala alone and then slotted the ball past Andre Onana. Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, then scored an unannounced goal to tie the game. Everyone in the opposite end and on the field let out a combined sigh of relief.
The home team took back charge after terrible defense. Kambwala and Diogo Dalot’s failure to talk to each other put Justin Kluivert in a huge open area, where Marco Senesi found him. The Dutchman used this to his advantage to give the home team the lead again nine minutes after they had lost it. After being the much worse team in the first 45 minutes, the Red Devils went into halftime down by one goal.
Fernandes, one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, scored the penalty kick in the 65th minute to make it 2-2 on the south coast. Referee Tony Harrington’s choice to point to the spot confused the player who did it, Adam Smith, which led to the controversial way it happened.
Kobbie Mainoo set up a shot while Ten Hag’s team was on the move. The young player’s shot seemed to be going in, but Ryan Christie of Bournemouth stopped it on the edge of their penalty area. The ball hit the Scotsman and bounced back, then it flew toward Smith. Smith didn’t try to stop the ball with his arm.
And Harrington was sure that Smith’s mistake was on purpose. Manchester United came back from behind for the second time in the game, which gave them a share of the win on the road. People saw Smith shaking his head in shock a few minutes after Fernandes tied the game.
One interesting fact about Manchester United is that they have only won one of their last seven Premier League games, a 2-0 win against Everton.
During the extra time in the second half, Manchester United looked like they had shot themselves in the foot again. There was a penalty call against Kambwala for bringing down Christie, but this time it was in favor of Andoni Iraola’s team, who are also trying to finish in the top half of the league. Kambwala had been having a hard time keeping Solanke in check all game.
But there was a VAR review because it wasn’t clear if the impact happened inside or outside the visitor team’s penalty area. After that, the judge changed his mind, and Bournemouth got a free kick. It would have been nice for Iraola and his team to win their 12th Premier League title. They will feel let down.
