“The have impressed me so far in the pres season and will have a playing spot in my Starting Eleven- Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola confirms two new Man City first team players.
Before leaving his school players in the US, Pep Guardiola broke the rules and brought back two new players for the first team.
The younger players on Guardiola’s Manchester City team went to the United States while most of his more experienced players were still on vacation after a summer of international games. Guardiola has said many times that he is frustrated that he can not try out new ideas while on tour, but he says that one of the good things is that he gets to watch City’s best young players play with the first team.
The boss had said before that he wanted five or six young players to add to his team, but now he only wants two: Nico O’Reilly and James McAtee.
O’Reilly got more credit for his great play against Chelsea, which was his fourth start of the summer and built on his goal against Barcelona. Plus, McAtee set up two goals in the second half to go along with his goal against AC Milan.
Guardiola said, “Every game was much better than the last one.” “Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips grew up.” Jack [Grease] makes a huge number of games. Ralph [Lewis] and Oscar [Bobb] have been amazing together. Today, McAtee shows what he can do as a football player. Nico also played very well.
“Every young player get some time. The first time I play for Stephen Mfuni is today. I am 16 years old. Everyone had fun. There will be players on loan, with the first team, with the second team, and with the third team. We hope they come back next season.
“Both [McAtee and O’Reilly] will be first-team possible.” The other ones are still not ready to play with us. They must be on loan or with a second team. Because it always depends on them, we will watch how they grow.
