Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has made a shocking return to join this Premier League Club for a Two years contract
David de Gea has chosen what he wants to do with his football career after leaving Manchester United last year.
The Spaniard stopped shots and hasn’t played football in a year since he left the Premier League club for free. Andre Onana replaced de Gea, and the club then let him go. He has been away from football for a year to think about what he wants to do next.
In 2011, United paid Atletico Madrid €25 million for the 33-year-old player. He stayed there for 12 years. Over the course of his time at the club, de Gea was in great shape. He kept 190 clean sheets in 545 games, which is United’s record for most clean sheets.
These great accomplishments helped the team win the Premier League in 2012/13, the FA Cup in 2016, the Europa League in 2016/17, two Carabao Cups, and three Community Shields.
Spain chose de Gea as their first-choice goalie and gave him 45 caps, which doesn’t come as a surprise given his amazing list of awards, which includes the Europa League and UEFA Supercup titles he won at Atletico.
However, the senior goalkeeper thought about retiring after leaving United. Now, the 33-year-old has hinted that his next move will be revealed.
De Gea knows what to do next.
When the goalie shared an hourglass emoji on X last weekend, he gave a hint that his next team would be announced soon.
Reports from Gianluca Di Marzio say that De Gea is in talks to join Serie A club Genoa. The club is currently debating whether to sign the former United star or not.
After more than a decade with Manchester United, De Gea has turned down a chance to play in the Premier League again, according to The Athletic.
