The Sport daily claims that Nico Williams, a standout for Athletic Bilbao, has told his agency that he is not interested in joining Paris Saint-Germain or any other team this summer.
According to French media, coach Luis Enrique had asked Paris Saint-Germain to join the battle to sign Williams, and the team had done so in the last few hours.
But the most recent source indicates that Williams has made it plain what he wants to do this summer: sign with Athletic Bilbao for another season or go to Barcelona.
The athlete believes that joining Lamine Yamal at the Blaugrana is the greatest move for his career, even though Paris Saint-Germain’s cash offer is more than Barcelona’s.
The decision now rests with Barcelona, who must find the 58 million euros required to fulfill the player’s release clause with Athletic Bilbao and create space in the roster for the 22-year-old in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
