BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea have issued an official statement this afternoon regarding their £89m signing, Mykhailo Mudryk, after shocking reports confirmed he has failed a drug test and is now facing suspension. 😢

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been temporarily suspended after testing positive for a banned substance, just days before the club’s upcoming match against Everton.
The Football Association (FA) notified the Ukrainian international following an irregular result in a urine sample he submitted.
Chelsea confirmed the suspension in a statement, saying: “The club and Mykhailo fully support The FA’s testing programme, and all players, including Mykhailo, undergo regular testing. Mykhailo has firmly stated that he has never knowingly taken any prohibited substances. The club and Mykhailo are cooperating with the authorities to determine the cause of the positive result. No further comments will be made at this time.”
Mudryk, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in an £89 million transfer in January 2023, also addressed the issue on social media. He stated:
“I have been informed that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance. This news is shocking to me as I have NEVER knowingly taken any banned substances or broken any rules. My team and I are investigating how this could have happened. I am confident in my innocence and hope to return to play soon. Due to confidentiality, I can’t say more at this moment but will share updates when possible.”
Mudryk’s last appearance for Chelsea was on November 28, when he scored in a 2-0 UEFA Conference League win against Heidenheim. Since then, Chelsea, led by manager Enzo Maresca, has maintained strong form in the Premier League, closing the gap on leaders Liverpool to just two points.
