Chelsea ‘offer’ England star who ‘won’t play again’ at Euro 2024 in ‘incredible’ swap for Barcelona Star Boy

Reports say that Chelsea has made an offer for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo that includes the midfielder Conor Gallagher and cash.

Since Todd Boehly and his group bought Chelsea in May 2022, the Blues have spent more than £1 billion, but Chelsea fans have yet to see the results on the field.

Chelsea has already brought in a lot of new players this summer. They have signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, and Tosin Adarabioyo.

The Blues hired Enzo Maresca as their new manager at the end of the season after Mauricio Pochettino quit on good terms, but it looks like they still have a lot of players they want to sign.

This summer, Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, Thiago Silva, and Hakim Ziyech have all left Chelsea. For a while now, there have been rumors that Gallagher could be moved to help the Premier League club meet the profit and sustainable rules.

Now, news from Spain says that Chelsea has “raised their offer” for Barcelona center back Araujo, in what is being called a “incredible” deal for the Uruguayan player.

Barcelona president Laporta and Deco are “not at all closed to the possibility of transferring” Araujo this summer if the price is right. Chelsea “continue to press on signing” the defender.

Paid for
As a warning to all potential suitors, Barcelona has said that they will ask for between €90m and €100m for Araujo. However, Boehly “hopes to reach an agreement with Barcelona to considerably reduce this cost and has had the idea of including in the negotiations a star player who could be interesting for Hans-Dieter Flick but is not necessary for Maresca.”

Gallagher is the player Boehly is ready to trade for Dewsbury-Hall now that the England international “has run out of space at Chelsea, where he is one of the leaders and is looking for a new challenge.”

Chelsea is ready to make Barcelona an offer of €45 million and Gallagher’s fixed services in order to get them to let Araújo leave.

Gallagher came off the bench in England’s first two Euro 2024 games, against Serbia and Denmark. In their final group game, against Slovenia, Gareth Southgate put him in the starting lineup.

But the midfielder for Chelsea was taken off at halftime of their 0-0 draw with Slovenia. He then came off the bench in the 106th minute to play the last 14 minutes of extra time in England’s dramatic win over Slovakia in the last sixteen.

Didi Hamann, a former Germany international, didn’t think Gallagher would be at the event again before the game against Slovakia.

“Gallagher isn’t or wasn’t a problem,” Hamann told RTE. He’s not what’s wrong with that England team.

“It’s likely too late now.” That’s what the boss has done in the tournament: going after the weaker players.

“He got Alexander-Arnold because he was easy to hit.” Gallagher leaves the game at halftime. For the rest of the game, we probably won’t see Gallagher again.
