Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has joined this shocking European Club for a year contract worth over £2 million

David de Gea, a former goalie for Manchester United, has joined Fiorentina for free.

De Gea’s 12-year stay at Old Trafford came to an end last summer, when he left when his contract expired because he and the club could not agree on a new one. The reasons of his leaving caused a lot of disagreement. Some United fans wanted De Gea to sign a new contract, while others thought the team should move on because they were worried about how well he could pass the ball and play out from the back.

After De Gea left United, Saudi Arabia wanted to sign him, but he turned down the chance to play in the Middle East and was a free agent for the whole 2023–24 season.

The goalie had his medical on Friday and will be publicly introduced as a Fiorentina player before the weekend. Next week is the start of the Serie A season. Last season, Fiorentina came in eighth place in Italy’s top league, and they lost the Conference League final for the second year in a row.

Soyfan Amrabat is still on loan to the Florence club from United. In order to get a move to United, Amrabat put off going back to Fiorentina’s pre-season this summer, but Italian media say he has now gone back to training.

United needs to get a midfielder before the transfer window closes on August 30. Last month, Erik ten Hag was supposed to talk about the chance of getting Amrabat with the club’s new sporting director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox, and CEO Omar Berrada.

United is still considering Amrabat as a player, and they have not ruled out the possibility of signing him. This means that the player could still get his dream move to Old Trafford.

Many people thought De Gea might have quit football after not being able to find a new team for the 2018–19 season, but Fiorentina have given him a chance to start a new chapter in his career. With United, De Gea won the Premier League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Europa League. He was also named Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year four times. When he hangs up his gloves, there have been rumors of a testimonial at Old Trafford. He played 545 times as a goalkeeper, which is a club record, and kept 190 clean sheets.
