Pep Guardiola has announced this morning Julian Alvarez replacement after he left the club to join Athletico Madrid on a five years contract
It is not a sure thing that Manchester City will replace Julian Alvarez with a new player this month. The team has a lot of choices already.
One that stands out is Oscar Bobb, who was the best player on the team’s pre-season tour of the United States. The Norwegian player has scored two goals and set up three others in City’s four high-scoring matches since mid-July, when he turned 21.
Bobb played 26 times last season, but only seven were as a replacement. He looks like he will be playing a bigger part this year. Impressing while Alvarez was not there has only helped his chances.
That also goes for James McAtee, who scored against Milan and set up two more goals against Chelsea. Nico O’Reilly also took his chances in the other two games. He set up Bobb’s first goal against Celtic and scored himself against Barcelona.
Most people think that both will stay on the first team this season. People also think that Phil Foden will play a bigger role this time around than he did last time.
As for the players City has already brought in, Savinho should have a chance to do well in the Community Shield against Manchester United. In January, Claudio Echeverri will also join the team. He spent the rest of the year on loan at River Plate.
Pep Guardiola has said that the club would think about adding to the team if a player left, but it will not be easy to find the right player before the end of the month. Expect no new players to join with the initial £64 million fee or the money made on Sergio Gomez, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle, and Yan Couto. The boss made it clear that the team would look the same as it did last season.
