Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is set to join Manchester United this January after Ruben Amorim was appointment as the new manager of the club

Viktor Gyokeres is the talk of the town after scoring a hat trick on Tuesday to help Ruben Amorim’s Sporting CP beat Manchester City by the most goals since 2020.
The Blues beat Ancelotti 5-0 in the first leg of their Last 16 Champions League match in Lisbon in 2022, when Amorim was in charge. The 4-0 win was a full turn for him. Gyokeres started the 2-0 loss for Coventry City at Cardiff City on the same night.
Amorim was interested in him after he scored 43 goals in 116 games for Coventry. In 2023, Sporting signed him to a deal worth about £20 million. His agent later said, “I only brought Gyokeres to Sporting because of Ruben Amorim.”
The obvious links with Manchester United have grown stronger since he scored three goals against City.
The Sweden international has said that he has no plans to work with Amorim again in Manchester, and the coach has already said that his £83.9 million release clause could be a problem.
Amorim told reporters last week, “I will not take any of Sporting’s players in January.” “Gyokeres fees are €100m.” It is really hard to understand.
United and Dan Ashworth are in a tough spot. Ashworth was technical director at Brighton & Hove Albion when they sold Gyokeres to Coventry for £1 million in 2021. Two years later, the Championship club made £19m off of him and are about to get more money.
Coventry’s deal with Sporting includes a 15 percent sell-on option that drops to 10 percent if he meets certain success goals. Because of this, Sporting will try to hold out for more than they might have done otherwise, since they will lose some ground to Coventry.
