VERY SAD Bruno Fernandes news has been announced this evening as Manchester United Manager Erik Ten Hag has stripped him off the Captain Batch and the new Captain has been named
At the 3-3 draw between Manchester United and Porto on Thursday, Bruno Fernandes was sent off for the second game in a row.
Even worse for Erik ten Hag’s team was losing their leader less than 10 minutes from the end while they were trying to tie the game. They had already lost two goals. Fernandes has been sent off twice in four days, though the red card he got against Tottenham was later reversed.
Fernandes will be able to play for United when they go to Aston Villa on Sunday. UEFA rules say that someone who gets a red card can not play in any more UEFA club league games. The 30-year-old will not play in the Europa League match against Fenerbahce later this month because of this.
Fernandes was sent off because he hurt Porto twice and should have been booked. The second one happened as he tried to put the ball in the back of the net. Both were for high boots. UEFA did not consider the player’s removal to be a “major offense.” This means that he will be able to play in the games against Aston Villa and Brentford before the trip to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbache on Thursday, October 24.
Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund scored goals to put United ahead 2-0 at Estádio do Dragao. This was a great start for United. But they gave up that lead, and Porto turned the game around by scoring two goals in quick succession, one by Pepe Aquino and the other by Samu Omorodion.
Fernandes’s red card in the 81st minute looked like it was going to end all hopes of a 3-3 draw, but Harry Maguire scored in extra time to save the day. “We were in charge at the beginning of the game, got two good goals, but then we lost control,” Ten Hag said after the game.
“So the beginning was good, the middle was not so good, and the end was great.” Going there is hard, so getting the equalizer after falling behind 3-2 is good for the mood. Again, you can see that the team has a lot of spirit. But we need to get better at the main part, which is defense.
