Barcelona set for 10 point deduction by La Liga if they are guilty of breaking financial fair play rules

A large fine of 500,000 euros was given to Barcelona and other teams by UEFA for breaking the rules about Financial Fair Play.

The Catalan giants were caught lying about the profits they made from selling intangible assets in the 2022 fiscal year. These profits were not relevant income according to the rules.

In the same way, Manchester United was fined €300,000 for small violations of break-even losses. Porto and Anderlecht also got fined the same amount.

Recently, these punishments were revealed following the last round of monitoring under UEFA’s old FFP rules. The new rules will start to apply at the start of the 2023–24 season.

Barcelona clearly doesn’t agree with the decision, and they plan to fight the fine.

They think the punishment is unfair and say that La Liga gave permission for the report to be made.

The club is ready to take the case to the TAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) if that’s what it takes to get a fair outcome.
