“Garnacho was ready to come in then he refused to come In” Saying he was Tired- Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca has Explained why Alejandro Garnacho did not get any minutes against his former club Manchester United.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has shed light on why Alejandro Garnacho, a former Manchester United player who joined Chelsea in the summer after a reported fallout with United manager Ruben Amorim, remained an unused substitute in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Garnacho had been expected to potentially play a significant role in the match, given his history with Manchester United. However, despite being sent out to warm up in the second half, he did not make an appearance. Maresca clarified that the decision not to bring Garnacho on was not due to the negative reception he would have likely received from the Manchester United fans, but rather because Wesley Fofana was tired and requested a substitution. Maresca opted to bring on Malo Gusto instead.

Maresca emphasized that Garnacho was ready to enter the game, but the decision to prioritize Fofana’s substitution needs took precedence. Garnacho has struggled to secure a starting spot in Chelsea’s lineup, starting on the bench for three consecutive games. His limited playing time against Brentford resulted in an error that contributed to a goal.

The outcome of the match saw Manchester United secure a 2-1 victory, despite being reduced to 10 men after Casemiro’s red card. Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana made several crucial saves to deny Chelsea an equalizer. The win will boost Manchester United’s confidence after a mixed start to the season. They will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming fixtures against Brentford and Sunderland before the next international break.

In contrast, Chelsea will need to regroup and reassess their strategy to get their star players more involved in the game. The absence of Garnacho from the pitch, despite his readiness to play, highlights the tactical decisions that coaches must make during high-stakes matches. As the season progresses, Garnacho will need to find ways to prove himself and secure more playing time if he is to become a key player for Chelsea.
